No, there's simply too much that needs to happen still. He's at least four or five years out. If any of us should die this year, that would, in effect, be our own "Coming of the Messiah" so we should all be prepared for it.

Come on Cranmer you know damned well the Messiah is coming on the 24th of December 2012. Don't you?

Or have I made some kind of mistake in my maths?

Damned cheap calculators.

You know what they say, "buy cheap buy twice."

As I recall, some of the orginal Greek in St John's Gospel suggests that the Lord never ceases or has ceased to continue to return - to those who will receive Him.

Then, again, given the state of the world in which we live, I have wondered whether He has already been and gone, and that we are the residue who did not even notice His return.

Not an optimist then, Paul?

Lets all hope your are right on that one.

Because you really would not want to hear my theory on this subject.

Because it would require you to have a fresh clean pair of underpants ready, just to finish reading it.

Sometimes I wonder whether some of you people have ever read a bible. Or if you did you could not possibly have read and understood the bits I had drummed into me as a child.

Try Genesis for example. Which is a horror story not equaled by anything Hollywood has ever produced.

And a Happy New Year to you too, your Grace.

As bad as this may sound, I do hope Jesus doesn't come back too soon. I don't think I've had my go yet ...

I think I concur with some earlier commenters in thinking that the world has not got nearly bad enough yet to match some of the descriptions of what He will find when He does return. Mark you, it is going in the right direction, and rapidly. Perhaps that is what was meant by Mark 13 v20 "Except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved".

Why is religion so complicated? I just want to do the right thing, and I find huge chunks of the NT incomprehensible. How am I to know what is right?
