Cranmer - oppressed, persecuted and afflicted

Cranmer is disturbed that his august blog of intelligent and erudite comment upon matters religio-political, his great and world-renowned bastion of free speech upon some of the 'touchiest' topics of the age, may have to be closed down, or comment moderation imposed.

For three days now he has been afflicted by hundreds and hundreds of posts which link to some of the most undesirable sites abroad, each one of which has to be removed individually. This is involving him in hours and hours of wasted time (six hours yesterday), and his ashes are weary. It is bad enough having to type with the burnt stumps of the fingers of his left hand (the right having been totally consumed by the flames of that fateful day). But time is precious, and each hour he spends exorcising cyber-demons is an hour he cannot spend ministering to his flock.

Cranmer is despondent, dejected and distracted.

To be precise, he is of that disposition expressed by the perfect tense of the process of urination and the adverbial qualification denoting distance.

He humbly beseeches his readers and communicants for their prayers.

Mr Sewell,

None that he knows of. His Grace does not know how to combat the principalities and powers of the air other than through prayer and donning the armour of God.

He could switch platform, but it a complex and expensive process.

His Grace is of that disposition expressed by the perfect tense of the process of urination and the adverbial qualification denoting distance.

Why is it that all that is good in this country is constantly (and has been for centuries) under threat from foreigners?

Google should offer better protection than what you've been encountering. The Word Verification image should stop most automated spam getting through. Perhaps there has been a problem with Google's filters, which they will surely fix quickly? Who knows...

Comment Registration may help as a temporary option to ward away the automated spam, removing it once the threat has gone away.

Moving platforms, over to a WordPress self-hosted blog need not be expensive and too painful. If you want to look into this I am sure I can help you out - give me a call or email.

If you have to moderate then moderate, if you have to move host then do so, if this is a deliberate attack on this blog, Google should offer its services. The alternative is not an option.

At a guess, you've rattled a few cages over the coverage of Gaza. In Belfast here at the weekend a mob went into Marks & Spencers and removed Israeli produced food from the shelves into a trolley and tipped them up in the middle of the store. They also attacked a stall selling Dead Sea products... so much for a free society!!
Don't give in to the blaggards but if necessary you could close comments for a while until they go away and get a life.

How much do you need to change platform? I would gladly make a donation. His Grace has opened a channel to the living Force and the Dark Side has felt the disturbance.

Do what you have to do, since when has quitting been an option?

As for prayer, this is to be administered by as many as possible, do not under estimate the power of prayer. It was Vader who said that the Death Star, in all its technological wizardry, was nothing in comparison to the power of the Force.

I find it hard to believe that the treatment you have been receiving is not linked with your clear Christian stance. Though I have some issues with internet anonymity, giving up means those who are determined to suppress Christian freedom speech win. Thankfully though you have some gallant cyber knights who have come up with some very good suggestions.

But when I come to You
Bowing down

I have that satisfaction
In my loving heart
That Your light of
Peace is on me

That comes through
I don't know how
All I know
There is nobody
Who gives me that
Feeling of security

To continue walking
In this journey of life
That I feel
Is all walking towards you

Yes I can feel your
Loving angels through
My words
Guiding me from
My shoulders

Don't leave me
From your spiritual doors

Can I recommend His Grace migrates his ashes to Wordpress. It should be neither expensive nor difficult, and I find the moderation and the spam-trap to be excellent by comparison.

I see he has had an offer upthread from the estimable Mike Rouse, which would (I'm sure) make the process not merely painless but perhaps even pleasant!

Good luck, and thank-you for that Sir Humphrey-esque description of your mood!

Beloved Communicants,

His Grace is heartened and most touched by your advice and most generous offers of assistance.

There is one distinct advantage with Blogger (which Dr North at EU Referendum also acknowledges), and that is that they operate some logarithm whereby Google searches favour Blogger (and therefore His Grace) enormously. His posts are frequently on the first page of '12,000,000' (and in one instance 'number one' of 156,000,000.

He is not sure how Wordpress compares to Blogger in this regard.

Today is proving to be worrisome indeed Your Grace. Dark Forces seem to be looming from all directions. We have a situation where Obama has declared that It is no longer essential to kill Osama Bin Laden, at at time when Paul Kennedy writes in The Wall Street Journal, "China will buy a lot of the Obama bonds coming up but for how long? In World War II Americans dug into their own pockets to finance the war debt–there was no one else to buy them. Today, Americans don’t have the savings to finance their debt. We have turned to China and Saudi Arabia to do that for us.

The day is coming when that will end.

In addition to this woeful prophesy from over the pond, our very own Foreign Secretary David Miliband has said. The idea of a "war on terror" is a "mistake", putting too much emphasis on military force.

And now to top it all off, at a time when my entire world looks like it it doomed to implode, His Grace shows signs of deterioration within His superstructural defenses!!!!

Pray indeed I shall.

His Grace has my sincerest sympathy, evidently he has seriously upset some people of a vengeful nature (of which there are many in this world, and not all, alas, overseas,) cowards, of course because they are always happy to create disruption without allowing themselves to be put to the same inconvenience.

But therein lies the essential difference between the Christian viewpoint and the rest. Whilst it is apparently fine for the militant (the fashionable word is, I believe, now 'radicalized') muslim to be generally obnoxious if they don't get their own way in everything, the Christian is still entreated to turn the other cheek. The only downside with this approach is that the militant muslim then reads this as weakness, and despises it.

I do stress, of course, that these are merely academic observations and don't mean for one moment that I'm blaming any section of society for your current ills. It's simply that, statistically, it will turn out to be so. His grace says a word in favour of Israel at his peril, I fear

Free speech is dead in the UK right now. The government is scared witless of anyone who might launch a bomb attack, and buying them off with concessions is regarded as a better bet.

Sad, certainly. Avoidable, possibly. But desirable - no.

Another three hours just occupied with another clear-out.

His Grace does not have the stomach to switch platforms, for, alas, he is not so technologically savvy as to be able to grasp Wordpress in haste, and he is most concerned about his beloved archive.

He is informed that it is some automated 'bot' - some demon has selected a few hundred random posts, and it is these posts which are afflicted every morning (betweem 3-7am) with the same 'chinese' hyper-link. It is the same posts every time, and there is no rhyme or reason as to the choice.

'Sexy' and 'Sexy999' who perform this evil deed are registered users, so banning anonymice or unregistered users will not assist.

His Grace regrets that he may have to impose comment moderation. This will inevitably affect the quality of the dialogue. and diminish the philosophical flow.

I have also experienced this - 2,500 spams sent in under 5 minutes, all using a spurious e-address similar to my own. And advertising grotesqueness in the most disgusting vocabulary. And as you say it takes hours to remove.

The only solution to this spam pollution is for every e-mail sent to incur a tiny charge - 1 cent, 1 penny or whatever. Those of us who wish to e-mail constructively will happily pay, while the monsters out there won't. Problem solved.

Don't know how practical this is, but for all but the most technically proficient, it seems the only way out of the quagmire or nuisance and filth.

We have been infected by malicious code. There are many types and methods, and one way to prevent is to disable the HTML tags if possible.

There are many way to disguise code in hyperlinks, for example look at this Link:

Go to http://200.37.48199/ for your IRS refund of 620$.

This IP looks a little weird. Turns out its just encoded. Take the decimal number and convert it to hex:

Decimal: 48199
Hex: BC47

Split the hex into two BC 47

BC = 188
47 = 71

So the actual IP is This is a pretty neat trick which the browsers convert automatically.

blog spam attacks can also use HTTP/javascript obfuscation and redirection to pass the victims browser through several websites, ultimately infecting the victims host using a handful of exploits.

Another possibility for intrusion and identity theft has occurred to me in the last few days, in which I have experienced trouble with the largest internet security firm that I know of. In trying to solve my problems I've connected to their 'Chat' site, which has clearly re-located to the subcontinent.

These people presently only pretend to solve problems, but in doing so gain remote access to our computers and desktops. Who knows what they do there! My fears may be in vain, but I no longer trust this company; and judging by their inordinate 'wait' queues, many others are in the same boat.

Your Grace,

Though we are separated by time and space, the power of the internet permits me to setup a new blog site and then let you view it, whatever and wherever and whenever the state of your remains may be. We could set up a Wordpress installation with a full copy of your current archive and then you could access that to inspect from wherever you currently interact with the world wide web. In this manner you could see what a new site would look like and whether you would have any difficulty in making posts, without having to remove this current outpost of your learned opinions.

EU Referendum appears to not have proper comments per se but rather has setup a separate forum (powered by phpbb) which operates as his commenting system. It is not in the slightest bit expensive, not terribly complex (though you may need some assistance at the start). However, were you wanting to setup such a forum you would be much better simply moving to a wordpress blog with full anti-spam protection.
