Frank Field on the 'Darkness at the Heart of the Labour Party'

Cranmer admires no Labour MP more than he does Frank Field. He is a moral crusader of impeccable integrity and devout Christian conviction. This makes him a veritable thorn in the side of Gordon Brown, if only because Mr Field has a genuine heart for the poor, the destitute and the under-privileged upon whom Gordon Brown long since turned his back. His latest post is reproduced below in its entirety, for it is spiritually incisive and politically damning. When a Christian talks of the 'darkness' which lies 'at the heart', it is an unequivocal statement of lies, deception and corruption. There is sin at the heart of Labour, and Frank Field is worthy of our prayers as he exposes it in all its ugliness:

Harold Wilson asserted that the Labour party was a moral crusade or it was nothing. The McBride affair has left Labour members looking at nothing. That is the reality check that McBride has wrought on the party.

The whole of the government's energy should be spent on governing now and building a programme from which, within and year, we will be seeking permission to rule for another five years.

Far from helping sketch out a new roadmap, the McBride activities shine a searchlight on the paucity of the government's programme.

Week after week MPs have been turning up but with almost no serious work to do. There is the odd bill to be sure. But there is no legislative programme to speak of. Even the debates that are put on to fill in time are ones that deny MPs a vote. The whole exercise is vacuous.

Labour MPs are left staring into the abyss - that nothingness of Harold Wilson's statement. There is a wish amongst all sections of the PLP for the government to start governing. We wouldn't care too much whether the ideas were Blairite or non-Blairite, as long as we could give the impression of supporting a government that was using the next year to mark out why we should stay in office.

We have lived through an age of record public expenditure provision, but are now entering one of increasing cuts. There have been some beneficial results from this huge tax-payer largesse, but they in no way match up to what radicals predicted would be the outcome.

Have we been on the wrong track, and if so, what should now be our approach? Or is the task to look much more carefully how each pound of tax-payers' money is spent so we get a much bigger bang for our buck? Instead of this debate, we see the energy at the heart of Number 10 going into trying to smear the opposition.

It is this contrast between how we should be behaving, and what has been exposed, that is the real killer. A necessary government information machine has been corrupted by a spin that seeks not to inform but control and, if needs be destroy. And it has been in existence for over a decade.

McBride sat on the Prime Minister's political War Cabinet. If this is the war the Prime Minister thinks the country wants he is in for a very rude awakening. In the meantime, Labour supporters are left bewildered and wondering what happened to the moral crusading side of our mission.

Poor old Labour party.

Poor old Labour Party indeed.

Come on, Mr Field. Cross the floor.

Yes, Mr. Field, your sentiments are shared by many. The Labour party is nothing but a rotting corpse and doesn't deserve the time of any honest person. Perhaps you could cross the floor to give Mr. Cameron some desperately needed advice.

As for crossing the floor, I suspect Frank Field serves us all better by remaining where he is, at least for now.

Frank. I will ask a serious question if I may be so bold. What are your Christian beliefs? The reason I ask is because I have watched this bullying go on for quite some time now, and have been concerned as men and ladies of real substance and commitment have been pressured into silence. The opportunity for real progress was stifled by a few horrid and corrupt individuals who should never of been allowed the freedom and destructive license that they stole from the nation. I am now firmly convinced that Labour is finished for many years ahead. Good people who have the knowledge and experience, but who have fallen victim to evil and dark practices should not, in my mind, give up on their nation out of a false and unnecessary sense of loyalty to something that has already died. And I ask about your Christian beliefs because I suspect that you are a man of faith as well as conviction. I would think that such a man, as I think you are, would serve his country well if he/you were to consider being part of the next government. I think you know what I am suggesting here Frank. The Labour party is finished, but even though I know the Conservatives will win the next election, I am also sure that the nation is not convinced that they are anything more/less than the best of the worse. This is where you, and others, would be doing us all a great service if we could all take the past disastrous years of failure and corruption and learn to adapt in a fresh new political environment which will, hopefully, be free from the dark and crippling ways of old. What do you say?

Frank Field has long been the conservative’s favourite Socialist. And yet he remains a Socialist and a member of the PLP. It is in part because the PLP, like every other socialist party, has always seen itself as a “moral crusade” that it has never understood what government is nor, in consequence, when in office, has it known how to govern. It confuses governing with the pursuit of a “mission”. Perhaps His Grace should not confuse a decent man’s pain at witnessing the foulest administration in living memory with the supposition that he has any fundamental disagreement with his party and its doctrines. Mr Field will never cross the floor.

Mr Field should certainly not cross the floor but continue asking the awkward questions about the disastrous social effects of de-Christianisation in the kinds of ordinary communities the liberal establishment don't tend to live in.

Frank Fields the man who put the Birk in Birkenhead (as we say in Liverpool) he may be your favorite Zanu Nu Liebour MP but he has for to long sat in the commons and done nothing, he was asked to think the unthinkable and did but when Bliar said thanks but no thanks and ditched it he did nothing, when Bliar and Brown gave more power to the EUssr he did nothing. He has kept his head down for a long time and done/said nothing he may have squeaked now and then, but other than that nothing. Now he is edging his bets, looking after number one when he should have been looking after the English and England, will he cross the floor I do believe given the right signs he would as fast as his feet will carry him.

Wyrdtimes Frank Field doesn't have to start a English party, I and others already have.

Free England

come and join us.

These are strong words from a man who sees the writing on the wall.
Field was betrayed by Bliar when he put Harperson in charge of him.
Field's ideas and personal integrity would have reformed social security.
He's a bit colourless but this country would have been a lot happier with him as PM.

What is there for our MPs to debate if all matters of any relevance are an EU competance. OTH, it is parliament that neutered itself, but they still have the power to make it relevant.

All these Parties set up by the EU to lead the a Fragmented British people up Blind alleys as they try to run away from the EU Monster about to consume them.

What possible use are English, Welsh, Scottish or Northern Irish Parliaments when 80% of British Laws are made in Brussels !!

Who really funds oragnisations like Plaid, the SNP and the English Democrats, all they are doing is fragmenting the Patriotic British Voters, who for the most part wish nothing to do with the EUSSR.

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!

@ Free England ??
I'm English not British. I'll never be British.
It's bad enough we have to share this island with Scots and Welsh let alone be in a political union with them.
Devolution has exposed how these people are motivated by malice towards the English.
The English will leave the EU and hopefully the UK.
I just hope we go over the top, just a bit. Of course that is what we are being pushed to.
Note how the police have become a tool of the state and oppressors of the people with the diminution of English Law and its replacement with the kind of civil law favoured by Scots and Europeans. Our police are coming to resemble those across the channel.
The UK is the smokescreen behind which the EU submarine stalks ready to launch its torpedoes against the good ship England.
We don't need the Scots and Welsh and never did. The Irish can go to blazes as far as I'm concerned. Oh! They already are, but I don't see why England should burn too, for the sake of the blighted "Union"

It is true. As a free MP sitting on the benches Mr Field has not done enough to expose the "darkness in the heart of Labour". But then he is mortal. Let's take heart that he has given this testimony at last.

But I must say, as a frequent reader of blogs and comments on the British political scene, that the darkness is not exclusively prevalent amongst Labour supporters. You only have to see the cynical looks of the audience in the "Susan Boyle - for those who judge by appearances" link above. It made me cry to see such evil in my own country.

God forgive you all.
