Obama’s Christmas Tree celebrates mass murder

Why is China's ‘Chairman’ Mao Zedong – arguably the bloodiest tyrant of the 20th century – hanging from the White House Christmas Tree?

What would be the reaction if the Christmas Tree outside 10 Downing St were decorated by a picture of Adolf Hitler?

Or Stalin? Or Pol Pot?

If we are now using Christmas to commemorate those who are roasting on the hottest fires in Hell, let us have baubles sporting the faces of Hirohito, Ho Chi Minh, Kim Il Sung , Lenin, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Francisco Franco...

Ah, of course. It is not intended to be a Christmas Tree, but a Holiday Tree.

And a Holiday Tree can commemorate anything and anyone.

So why not celebrate someone responsible for the deaths of 50 to 80 million of his countrymen?

And why not have a drag queen as well?

Just who is Hedda Lettuce?

Deck the Halls with death and campness fa la la la laaaaaaaaaaa, la la la laaa.

And what hubris has possessed President Obama that he has consented to an ornament with his head etched in stone at Mount Rushmore, alongside those of Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt?

The First Lady has explained how this has come about. She says: "Our starting point was a very simple idea (...quite...). That we include people in as many places, in as many ways as we can. We took about 800 ornaments left over from the previous administrations. We sent them to 60 local community groups throughout the country and asked them to decorate them, paying tribute to a favorite local landmark, and then send them back to us for display here at the White House... in the new year, we all intend to renew this effort and continue this kind of outreach, so that everyone feels like they have a place here at the White House."

Ah, that’s nice.

Perhaps the Prime Minister should make everyone feel like they have a place in Downing Street. He could sent his balls to various ‘community groups’ in the UK, and then watch them come back carrying the faces of Gerry Adams, Abu Hamza, Myra Hindley, Jonathan Ross and Jesus Christ.

And the one they would censor is Jesus.

Just in case he caused offence.

It is all apparently the work of a chap called Simon Doonan, which might explain the glorification of Hedda Lettuce. But it is incomprehensible that America has come to tolerate and even embrace the marketing of evil. The Christmas Tree has returned to its pagan roots, and the wise have become fools as they glorify amorality and atheism. They have exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator. They have exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man.

Is it any wonder that God has given them over to a depraved mind? Is it any wonder that they have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity?

President Obama declared in Turkey last April: "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation." He is enabling an anti-Christian agenda to permeate the US which is revising America's religious history, minimising the role of religion, passing ‘progressive’ legislation and turning a blind eye to issues like the lawsuit to remove the national motto ('In God We Trust') from the walls of the new Capitol Visitors Centre in Washington.

Rather like our own government, President Obama is slowly eradicating the Christian foundations of his nation upon which their historic liberties rest. He does not simply deny Christianity; he disdains it.

Obama honouring Mao on a Holiday Tree is just a Communist glorifying a Communist.

Clearly, having Chairman Mao an others would seem rather inappropriate. However, is it really as clear cut as his Grace portrays ? The excellent Snopes website

thinks not. For instance

"During the eight years of the George W Bush administration, First Lady Laura Bush chose particular (non-religous) themes for the White House Christmas trees, and then send ornaments to related organizations and asked artists to decorate them in accordance with th given theme. in 2007 for example, the theme was "Holiday in the National Parks, and ornaments were sent to each of the 391 national parks in the United States for decoration"

So, the practice of allowing others to submit baubles is nothing new, and as you can see from the rest of the Snopes page, it is still referred to as the Christmas Tree, not a holiday tree or anything else.

Hardly surprising to see the 'baubles' adorned with the images of man.
Humanism is the 'New' Religion. Humanists reject God’s Word, and deny God’s rightful claim to having authority over them and their children. They are corrupt teachers, doers of abominable works. The Lord Himself declares that such ones are worthy of having a millstone tied around their neck, in order that they may be tossed into the sea to drown, for the crime of misleading/offending those who are young (Matthew 18:6). “Behold, they walk every one after the imagination of their evil heart, that they may not hearken unto Me” (Jeremiah 16:12). “The fool has said in his heart, There is no god. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works” (Psalm 14:1). “The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek Him; but His power and His wrath is against all them that forsake Him” (Ezra 8:22). “There is none that understands, there is none that seek after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one” (Romans 3:1)

Humanism is not new to this world. It made its entrance in the Garden of Eden. It slithered in, subtle and beautiful to behold, yet it was evil!

And the serpent said to the woman, “You shall surely not die: For God knows that in the day you eat thereof [of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil], then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:4, 5).

Whether or not most Christians realize it, the battle lines have been drawn. The battle that is now beginning to rage will eventually determine who will be the true voice of authority in our culture. Will it be God’s infallible Word, or the humanistic “logic” of men who are at war with God? The humanists know, even if Christians do not, that “the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their roles as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity . . . These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers . . . for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach.”

Your Grace
I am not comfortable either with pictures of political leaders or other societal figures being put on Christmas trees.
I was trying to think "why?" and I agree with Your Grace's choice of quotations. A tree decorated with prominent people ends up appearing to be a shrine to them rather than to our Lord, the only true God, and Creator of all people.
It also reminds me of the Tower of Babel. We shouldn't boast about any good mankind has done, can or might do or what mankind possesses outside of the context of our Lord, Provider of good things especially on a decoration for a religious festival; we should also try not to approve of or to promote evil acts; and we dare not worship human leaders, the famous or any people, whether we we admire them or not. Our Lord alone is worthy of worship and is a jealous God.

Non of this is any great wonder to me. Satan is annoyed and grieved when we worship and pray for each other and celebrate the Christian festivals. It is hardly any wonder that we are being persecuted today as we were in the past. Do we think that Satan has gone away and given up? It is up to us the faithful to continue in our good works and acts of courage and faith.

Today in the News of The World Lord Carey has a column in which he says we should resort to civil disobedience. Civil disobedience? We do not have to be disobedient in order to shine and bring light to the gospel of our Lord, we simply have to set an example. We will continue to pray for people, we will continue to ask if our prayers are needed, and we will continue to pray regardless. This is not disobedience, quite the opposite. If you are Catholic and you wish to wear a crucifix then wear it without cause for concern if it in some way strengthens your faith and helps to ward off the allusions of Satan. Tell people that you are praying for them, because this is their only real hope in this world.

God be with you all and may your lives be blessed.

Matthew 5: 1-20 (King James Version)

1.And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2.And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3.Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4.Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5.Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6.Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7.Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8.Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9.Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10.Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11.Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13.Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14.Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15.Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17.Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18.For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19.Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20.For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Ours is the battle and the struggle against the darkness. There is nothing better than the scriptures to help us stay on course and defend each other from the ways of Satan. There will be no day without the need to be vigilant. Let us all strengthen each other and join together in these latter days to fend off the ways of foolishness by sharing the gospel of our Lord.

Can I suggest a wonderful way to partake of the Holy writings? I sometimes feel wearisome when reading the Bible and often fall asleep midway. This I believe to be the wiles of Satan lulling me into the sweet corners of dreams and foolish sensibilities. A good way to overcome some of the distractions is to listen to The Audio Bible.

The Audio Bible is free. Chapters can be selected from the list in the left side panel and each isd then read out in your default player. It is simple to use and very easy to listen to; a great way to sit back and enjoy some of your favourite chapters. I have have made it a New Year's resolution to do at least one chapter a day beginning with the Gospel of Mathew. I am not intending to sound condescending, nor do detract from the wonders of actually reading scripture for ourselves, but simply to make a suggestion.

God Bless.

Philip Walling is spot on. Just like Blair only worse.
Blair "converted " to Catholicism, and then established some form of religious foundation when the Pope didn't seem to agree with his views. Now it is quite clear exactly what is Blair's God - Money.
Obama is much the same, claims a religious background when it suits him, changing quickly when his Pastor was felt to be extreme, and now adopting typically socialist religion.
At least whatever your views about Bush, when he said "God Bless America" you could feel that he actually meant it.

Your Grace, on this occasion, I think you are completely off base, and actually showing a bit of ignorance. Mr. Obama does not decorate his own tree his own tree, rather, it is decorated by staff with decorations sent in by the public mixed with traditional White House decorations.

And I'm pretty sure it's stupid to declare that Obama despises all things Christian. The NYTimes reports that when Obama was notified of the attempted terrorist attack on the plane in Detroit, he was singing Christmas carols with his family. He proclaims to be a Christian. Who am I to judge another man's faith? I am but a fellow brother Christian, I am not the Divine Father.

Your Grace, I come to your website for insightful, well written articles, coming from a British, Christian perspective. Christianity, in Britain, is in dire straights, and is under nearly daily attack. Christianity in America, while declining, is in no position at all akin to the British situation. Please, I beg you, do not continue to write such drivel. Your blog is unique, yet this post could have been written by any right wing hack and is an embarrassment to you and your ability. I am no fan of Mr. Obama, but your post is plain ole ignorant.

Hold on Hank

The person in charge sets the whole tone of the organisation.

e.g. the Captain of a Ship
the Head of a School
the Prime Minister
the President

He can't hide behind the claim that 'his staff did it'. And as far as I know he hasn't done so.

So it must be assumed that he approves.

Come on! Mao Tse Tung (aka Zedong)? Drag Queens?

Beyond satire.

Ergo, his Grace's criticisms are valid.

If he doesn't approve and is kicking ass in the background as we speak, then fine. We will see next year.

But if there is no criticism, who knows what next year will bring?

Actually, thinking about this, what has happened does in fact invert the traditional meaning, but in other ways it also highlights another message that comes across from this inversion which detracts nothing from the overall message of hope. A Tree that displays the faces of evil makes a multi faceted statement - about different things.

We will indeed see next year.

Merry Christmas.

Hank, In 2004 Obama was interviewed by Cathleen Falsani of the Chicago Sun-Times. He told her that Christians "may presume a set of doctrines" that "I don't necessarily subscribe to." Elaborating, he trivialized the core of the Christian faith by which believers live: "If all it took was someone proclaiming I believe [in] Jesus Christ and that he died for my sins, and that's all there was to it, people wouldn't have to keep coming to church, would they." Immediately Falsani asked him if he believes in heaven, and the skeptic mocked: "Do I believe in the harps and clouds and wings?" "I don't presume to have knowledge of what happens after I die," or whether rewards for one's conduct will be in this life only or in a hereafter. He identified "heaven" with feeling that he cares for his daughters and that they are learning from him his mother's values. In the same way, sin - inconsistency with his values - is "its own punishment."

Obama's definition of "Christian" is likewise illuminating. According to Falsani's transcript, he said:

" I am a Christian. So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith. On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences. I lived in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world. . . . intellectually, I've drawn as much from Judaism as any other faith." . . .

Like his mother, Obama himself regards the Christian faith and other religions as merely vehicles for an elevating experience of human consciousness. When he reasons, "I am a Christian. So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith.... So I'm rooted in the Christian tradition," he is identifying himself with what he regards as Christian myths so that we will project that he believes as Christians do. Yet he immediately qualifies that the myths of other religions are equally valid: "I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people."

The picture of Mao Zedong on the X-mass ornament is a copy of a picture done by the famous American artist Andy Warhol. Your argument is fatuous at best. Moreover, I challenge you to find a "famous" image of that drag queen in any American museum of art, acclaimed as such by a worthwhile critic (not one of these shallow, nasty poseurs masquerading as such).

The very fact that any image of a murdering tyrant, whether it be by Mr. Warhol, Rembrandt or da Vinci, is accorded a place of honor on the Christmas tree in the White House is a national disgrace to my nation and the faith it is celebrating. This President mocks Christian values at every turn, and will continue to do so; there are none so blind as those who will not see.

Tse-Tung is from the older Wade-Giles romanization, which was common until the 60s. Zedong is from the new pinyin system, which is what the Chinese government officially supports and is used in teaching schoolchildren in China, and so what everyone uses now.

Compare also Peking (Wade-Giles) and Beijing (pinyin).

And it's amazing that you see christmas ornaments and atheists as a dangerous threat to society. Atheists are generally peaceable, intelligent and moral. I just don't see the threat. More than 90% of Americans identify themselves as Judeo-Christian or otherwise believing in god, so calm the eff down and work on being tolerant o your fellow man regardless of their religious beliefs.
