David Miliband tweets his initial thoughts on Obama's speech

It is a curious tweet, demonstrating astonishing ignorance and impropriety with an utterly gratuitous swipe at 'Tory Britain'.

Does the former foreign secretary really believe that this first address in Westminster Hall by a US president was organised solely by the Conservative Party? Why did he equally not seek to tarnish 'LibDem Britain' with an implicit allegation of racism? Does he believe that the Liberal Democrats were not consulted on this occasion? Could he not have appreciated (at least) that 'Tory Britain' gave Parliament its first Jewish Speaker, who was most definitely on the 'British Establishment side'?

Perhaps Mr Miliband might suggest what proportion of the 'British Establishment side' he believes should have been made up of black, brown or other ethnic groups. And how many of these should have been lesbian, gay or bi. And then perhaps he might suggest how many of these should have been disabled.

Or, alternatively, perhaps he could just grow up.

What particular benefit does having non-white persons present at any event confer ? There are countries full of non-white people and they seem happy enough; in fact many of them want white persons to leave.

I know politicians and media types sleep together and engage in all sorts of consensual relations, but can't they simply leave the voting public alone and free of their particular fetishes.

I don't hear any of them complain that football matches don't have the same ratio of non-white or even non-British persons in the crowd as on the field.

It gets to be a version of Jim Crow to continually obsess about Non-Whites as if their non-presence represents an exclusion.

Your Grace, I am currently half-way haking through the human defence database known as wikipedia, so I have yet to absorb the sum total of human knowledge, but I will say that it appears to be typically human to bother to commment on a note written by an insignificant has been. But then to err is human. And that is what one likes about your species.

Also why did not the milipeed get angry at the lack of extra-terrestrials? Or can only humans be included in the socialist dogma. I would conclude the Tory party will be the first to have an extra terrestrial cabinet minister. Although I would think the milipeed would only be satisfied if said ET were gay, bi, black and atheist....

The infered corporate guilt of skin colour as necessity of socialism rather than sun struck earth latitude , is fascinating isnt it.

Perhaps it was to redress the balance with Mr and Mrs Obama's school visits where indigenous white students were noticeable for their absence. Not unusual in BBC clips however!

Surely it is a jolly good thing to keep the amount of dark sorts to a minimum within the British establishment?

Wouldn't want to end up like Rhodesia, would we.

English Viking has a point- the basis of a nation is a common ethnic and cultural genepool- put people of different ethnic backgrounds in one place and the result is civil war.

Although to me a human is still a human and therefore a savage, regardless of skin colour. Or perhaps I am becoming a tad PC in my 600 year age?

Since Milipede is white and very much part of the "establishment" he sneeringly derides, that makes him a bit of a silly cnut, doesn't it.

Perhaps the Millipede should do his bit to reduce the influence of the white population, by removing himself from all positions of authority, and dissapear into the relms of obscurity.

I have it on good authority that the 'Milipede' was once roughed-up something rotten, by Violet Elizabeth Bott!

Yep, that would be taking the 'white man's burden' a tad too far, right enough. It's no wonder Kipling took to baking cakes...
