The Aaron Biber Appeal

Readers and Communicants will recall the Barber Biber Appeal which His Grace instigated following the Tottenham riots. A number of comunicants have since enquired, but His Grace wanted to leave some considerable time between delivering the cash (personally, with reconstituted ashes, as he promised) and reporting on it, if only not to publicise the fact that Mr Biber's barber shop might be the repository of a significant amount of cash.

His Grace is delighted to report that Mr Biber received £2,400 from His Grace's readers and communicants, and was deeply touched. He sends his sincere thanks and deepest appreciation. His broken door and shattered window have been replaced, and Mr Biber even has a new kettle. So appreciative was Mr Biber of this divine gift that he gave His Grace an impromtpu Hebrew lesson (Mr Biber is a synagogue member) and sought to impress upon His Grace that he was named after Aaron, the brother of Moses.

While His Grace was talking, an old lady arrived and asked if the visit would be a long one. A little nonplussed, His Grace offered to leave, but Mr Biber told me she was 94 and was ushered in to sit in his barber's chair. His Grace assumed that this barber had diversified into women's hair styling, but Mr Biber then took out an ancient Philips appliance and (His Grace kids you not) proceeded to give the old lady a shave. She explained how she had recently lost her son and comes for the company. She paid him some 20 or 30p - His Grace didn't count precisely. And therein lies Aaron Biber's community service: he is not a busy barber, but he a very busy social hub, and a blessing to those who call in.

This was Mr Biber opening the package His Grace delivered:

And this was the look of sheer delight upon his little face when he saw it was a hefty wad of cash:

His Grace is delighted that Mayor Boris paid Mr Biber a visit (as His Grace had urged). Mr Biber's shop proudly displayed an autographed picture of the Mayor. And now Mr Biber can add a picture of His Grace to the gallery. Blessings upon all who contributed, and His Grace thanks you for your generosity. Mr Biber now finds himself the trustee of a very considerable community fund. May the Lord guide him in the dispensation thereof.

A refreshing post,Y G. Great to have some happy news!

This is sometimes a neglected part of witness and I'm quite sure that darker powers are ready to exploit its absence.

Society rides, when all else fails, upon the myriad acts of unselfish and unacknowledged service of people of faith. The survival of the species really does come down to loving God and your neighbour as yourself!

Many thanks for sharing.

It's a pity Mr Biber couldn't find time to tidy up the mass of hair on His Grace's lower face.

After 550 years the beard does seem rather unkempt.

An opportunity missed.

Your Grace,

As much as I enjoy the political gossip, or analysis of other bloggers, I always return here on the basis that while I don't agree with you on everything, "your heart is in [exactly] the right place" as they say.

I think you may be alone amongst bloggers in actually having responded to the suffering resulting from those riots in a compassionate and effective manner. Which, when you think about it, is all the more impressive given that you have been incorporeal for several centuries...

Everyone who donated money, and indeed Mr Biber himself, show that charity - and indeed, love - remain unfettered, even in the face of evil.

YG, I'm sure you don't need me to say this, but you did a good thing. As did all those who donated money.
I'm not sure how I missed the collection because I would have given something. Good to see that good people still exist.

Well done, Your Grace.

Personally, I think your beard is a fine token of ancient wisdom. I'm a bit concerned about the old lady's, though.

Good on you and others.

Just think how good some people who contributed to this happy outcome must be feeling right now.

On a sort of political, but most certainly a moral note.

Can we just imagine for a while how happy we would feel if we could afford to give more often and more generously to all kinds of worthwhile causes. That we could again feel that our good works and charitable instincts actually made a real positive and long term difference to other peoples lives.

Like many if not all of our fellow travelers that run small underinsured businesses which were adversely affected, or positively wiped out by last months riots. As well of course for all those other people who lost property or worse their very homes during this most worrisome time.

However those with a little extra to give like myself, should spare a thought for those who already give around half of their hard gained earnings to the state. Who are unfortunately excluded from this happiness by the priority need to feed and house themselves and their own families.

Counter to perceived belief this planet is potentially abundant in food and limitless free energy if clearly not actually in love, empathy and compassion coming from our rulers and owners.

This planet could most easily shelter, feed, and generally provide the needs for many times its current population.

It is not allowed to do so because the powers that be wish us all to exist in a state of perpetual shortage, and most especially those in parts of Africa to exist is absolute poverty and life shortening deprivation.

The world is deliberately and systematically DESIGNED to be this way because shortages create opportunities for easy profits, and help the establishment frighten and so more easily control particular populations.

3rd World poverty for example is still MADE to exist in the year 2011 mainly to provide a group of people that even the westernized underclass do not in anyway envy.

The sort of people we don't see so often anymore, but we certainly got a sight of them running around the streets of South London a few weeks ago.

Something to show what barely existing at the very very bottom of the great pyramid of command and control is really all about. Birth, suffering, more suffering, and then an early death, and not much else in between

This is of course why establishment owned charities such as Oxfam spend an incredibly high proportion of there funds on advertising 3rd world poverty to the western world, instead of on actually doing anything sustainably useful in ending it once and for all. There is little point deliberately creating or perpetuating this kind of murderous poverty, if little or no one knows about it.

Therefore a prime-time advertisement during an episode of Eastenders is an effective way to expensively show the underclass the alternative to state dependency, while raising as little cash as possible in the process of doing so.

Western man is depressed, and his women folk are not much happier. One of the reasons for this is their ever growing feeling of impotence to either independently look after themselves or their wider community.

They feel as though they have been bled dry, and for little benefit to either themselves or anyone else but the charities, banksters and politicians that conned the cash out of their pockets in the first place.

They are of course perfectly correct in feeling this way, because this cruel process was done quite deliberately to create such a hopeless feeling of impotence, and often resentment of their own neighbors in particular and society in general.

Do you think I am being more then a little over the top, or indeed verging on the edge of certifiable paranoia?

If so then please think again, and then again, for in your hearts you must surely know I am making perfect sense.

It is gestures of this kind that makes getting up in the morning worthwhile. The smile on Mr Biber's face is worth more than money. Much more.
