Baroness Ashton: "When we think about what happened today in Toulouse...we see what is happening in Gaza"

The appalling slaughter of Jewish teachers and children in Toulouse has provided Baroness Ashton with an opportunity to take a swipe at Israel. Yes, while Jews in France are subject to atrocious acts of anti-Semitic terrorism, they bring to the mind of the EU's High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy the plight of those in Gaza.

Presumably, in her mind, there is some equivalence between a lone gunman who shoots children in cold blood and the IDF who do their damnedest to target Palestinian rocket launchers and ammunition hordes whilst avoiding civilians in defence of the security of their homeland. And note, the Baroness did not mention what is happening daily in the southern part of Israel, where Jewish schoolchildren live in constant fear of being obliterated by missiles launched from Gaza. Perhaps, in her mind, the Jewish children of Israel deserve everything that comes their way.

No, Baroness, the murder of Jewish children in Toulouse is a tragedy which merits a focus all of its own. To equate the tragedy with the situation in Gaza is utterly reprehensible, and manifest evidence of your own inability to distinguish between that which is evil and immoral and that which is just and moral. You are a disgrace to the European Union, and bring shame upon the United Kingdom. You are ignorant of the facts and quite out of your depth. Doubtless you're too pig-headed to retract and apologise for the statement, and too obdurate and unyielding to resign. So, we are stuck with you. Frankly, you alone make the case for being Better Off Out.

I hadn't.

HG took a swipe at a women who misused the killings of innocent children to have a swipe at Israel.

You also didn't mention that the soldiers that were killed were dark skinned.

The killer may or may not have known that they were muslims but he definitely knew that they had dark skin.

I find your comments more than a little strange or biased or whatever.

But haven't there been few or no Jews on the European mainland since the 1940s? Zionism and neoconservatism cannot exist otherwise.

In fact, the world's third-largest Jewish community, after those in Israel and the United States, is in France. French Jews says what most American Jews think: they already have a country, and they don't need another one.

So say the Muslims of India, always more numerous than the entire, not quite entirely Muslim, population of Pakistan. So say the Irish Catholics of the United Kingdom, always considerably more numerous than the entire, far from entirely Catholic, population of the Irish Free State or the Irish Republic.

And so say the Jews of France, part of a Jewry in countries that one is perfectly free to leave which has always been vastly more numerous than the, nowhere near entirely Jewish, population of Israel.

It is despicable to stack up bodies like cordwood just to build a platform from which to make a political point. A what political point did she make that was worth making? That there is moral equivalence between Israel and Syria, or between Israel and people who randomly shoot children. What a bunch of horse excrement. To use dead Jewish children as an opportunity to grind a political ax against a Jewish state takes a degree of callousness most people don't possess.

Corrigan

And by the way, by what authority do you presume that the Israelis "do their damnedest" to avoid killing civilians? Other than because that's what they tell you, that is.

You see it in the disparity between what the Israelis have done and what the Israelis are capable of doing. The Palestinians provoke the Israelis in the manner they do because the Palestinians feel they can presume on a restrained Israeli response. Many countries in the world would not tolerate behavior of the kind exhibited by the Palestinian. They would respond with a level of severity to guarantee it ends. The Israelis won't go that far, and the Palestinians know it. That's why they behave as they do.

The Israelis have the power to stop Palestinian attacks. But the Israelis won't use that power because of the level of suffering and death the use of that power would inflict. If they ever change their mind, you will know it. And then the prior level of Israeli restraint will be self-evident.

Carl Jacobs,

if the Israelis "won't use that power", it is not because of any suffering they may inflict, it's because even your rotten country draws the line somewhere. When are you people going to get it through your thick skulls that the Israelis don't belong there? It isn't their country, it belongs to the Palestinians. The Israelis took it by force and that's ALL they did.

There are times Americans make me physically sick, and the utter hypocricy people like you and Cranmer display excusing this rancid entity has a seriously emetic effect. You people can't even affort to feed your own poor, yet you're pumping millions of dollars a day into this ramshakle tyranny for no other purpose than to make you feel like you're "good people".

Well, you're not good people. You've put guns into the hands of a land-grabbing regime of racially motivated murderers and then looked the other way for three generations while they killed, brutalized and robbed people who had done them no harm, except to have something the Israelis wanted - their own land. It really is that black and white, and it takes a serious mental gymnast to see it any other way.

Blogger bluedog said...

Mr Corrigan @ 19.50, is it really necessary to remind you that Jesus was Jewish and that his family had lived in Judea/Israel/Palestine for aeons? Quite how you can claim that a Jewish population has no historic right to live in Judea/Israel/Palestine defies belief. You should remember too that until 1918, the land of Israel was part of the Ottoman Empire whose administration had permitted European Jewish settlement for the previous fifty years or so. This is significant because the Ottomans were famously Muslim. So to claim that Israel was taken by force in the first instance is simply wrong. There is however no doubt that Israel is defended by force, for which there is no alternative, in the circumstances.

As for your comments about the Americans, you need to remember that as an Irishman, if not for US support of the UK, you may by now be speaking German. Certainly I for one am critical of the role the US played in WW2 in dismantling British power and influence. But I can also recoginse that without the generous aid given to Europe by the USA in the years following the war under the Marshall Plan, much of Europe would have starved to death. So when you say to Mr Carl of the US, 'you can't even afford to feed your own poor', don't forget that the Americans fed your parents for years.

Ummm ... wow. What need I say to that little rant? There is a basic principle of cross-examination for attorneys. "When the witness impeaches his own testimony, then stop."

Historical literacy, Corrigan. It's a useful thing. You should try it sometime. You might start with who had legal control of Palestine in 1947. You might investigate the motives and actions of the British Foreign Office in throwing the issue into the UN. You might even ponder why so many powerful people other than President Truman were so adamantly opposed to an Israeli state in Palestine. Then you would know just how dirt ignorant is this statement that you decided to make:

When are you people going to get it through your thick skulls that the Israelis don't belong there? It isn't their country, it belongs to the Palestinians. The Israelis took it by force and that's ALL they did.

Do feel free to continue ranting, however. You do my side of the argument no end of good by such posts. Here, let me offer a suggestion. Perhaps you should blame the Israelis for all those Jewish children getting shot in France. It doesn't even have to be rational, because it would fit in so well with everything else you have written on the subject.

It is really disturbing that a 'top European Union diplomat' namely Baroness Ashton should use the death of Jewish children in Toulouse to condemn Israel.
No mention of the Israel casualties from the thousands of 'Kassam 'and 'Katyusha' rockets fired into heavily populated areas by Hamas?. Israel have given land concessions in the quest for peace which were then used by Hamas as bases for their rocket launchers.

It is this anti Israel stance by a representative of the EU which must give rise to some serious questions
about the policies of the EU towards Israel and the rise of Anti Semitism in general.

If European Union' Foreign Policy Chief' Catherine Ashton is so biased against
Israel is she fit for the post she holds?.

Good people, politician , Muslim, Gentile, or Jew take only one side in any argument, discussion, debate, conflict, controversy or war.

That side is the side of peace.

What has history taught us?

History has taught us that peace is the gap between wars. That peace is always the ultimate outcome, therefore the quicker people stop killing other people, the less people will die for absolutely nothing worth having.

The ONLY people who benefit from wars are the people who make vast profits from them, therefore increase power for themselves and their employees. The exact same people who never fight in wars themselves, but expend much effort promoting them whenever they believe they can, and can get away with it.

And yes Dodo that ultimately is The Jesuit Orders, although as we all know it always takes at least two to Tango.

In answer to your last question concerning whether Livingstone, and people like him are Jesuits or not, I have this to say.

It is highly unlikely that committed Atheists like these types are Jesuits as such, although the recently departed head of The BBC likely is.

As socialism, capitalism, fascism and communism were all the work of the Jesuit Orders, all socialists are products of Jesuit influence to a greater or lesser extent, whether they know it or not.

The vast majority of socialists, bankers, civil and secret servants as well as Freemasons of course have absolutely no idea whatsoever that their minds are under Jesuit control, for this is how these kinds of things work so very well.

To be absolutely sure that an utterly corrupt criminal can correctly predict the exact result of a sporting fixture for example, he must control both teams in the match.

This is not generally done by corrupting the odd footballer, but by owning both clubs by owning the central banks therefore finance companies that helped buy both of the football clubs in the first place, the multi-national conglomerate that owns the book-making company, as well as control the respective sports governing body or bodies.

I suppose you think this is a conspiracy theory too far, and simply cannot happen because someone in the media would have told you about it.

Well, my friend, someone just has, ME.

Your mistake, apart from mindless wishful thinking, is not understanding that these exact same people not only own/control the BBC and Sky, but all of our mass media as well, from the Daily-Mail to The Guardian, all of the way around the houses and back again. Worse still control the judges therefore the libel courts, so that if anything like this was reported in an organ of the main stream media, the messenger could very well be out of any job in the media for life within 24 hours, and homeless within the mouth, and/or pushing up the daisies, in other words dead or wishing he was.

As we know when corruption does somehow hit the news stands it is always seemingly at a low level, swiftly covered up, or defused by promises to clean up the sport at some time in the future.

What actually happens however, is the governing bodies use such times as ways of working out how not to get caught next time, the fall guys take the rap, and the messenger gets either bribed, threatened or most usually both, to "shut the F up."

These people however are not the slightest bit concerned about what people like myself think or say, because they know for sure that hardly anyone pays any attention to anything not propagated on The BBC.

If it is not BBC, therefore authorized disinformation or vile propaganda, then it may as well not have happened at all, for all that will ever be done about, whatever it is.

What a good liberal attitude you exhibit about truth there, Dodo. Do we need an infallible Magisterium to define truth for us?

In fact there are all sorts of things known about the run-up to the formation of the state of Israel.

1. We know that the Foreign Office threw the problem into the hands of the UN confident the UN would fail, and return the mandate to Britain with a free hand.

2. We know that both the State Dept and the Defense Dept opposed the idea of an Israeli state in Palestine as inimical to American Interests. We know they were worried about oil rights, and being drawn into a war, and driving the Arabs into the hands of the Russians. We know that members of these departments actively tried to subvert Truman's efforts.

3. We know that Sec'y of State Marshall was so opposed to the idea he almost resigned from Truman's cabinet to scuttle the whole idea.

4. We know the European powers wanted the Jews in refugee camps to go back home to live with the people who collaborated with Hitler - devoid of property and past of course. We know the Jews in the camps wanted no such thing.

5. We know the Arabs threatened war to destroy any state of Israel as soon as it was created, and that no major power thought the Jews could win. They also didn't want to fight Arabs to impose an Israeli state because to do so would be contrary to their own interests.

6. We know the surrounding Arab states did start a war as soon as Israel declared its independence. In fact, the Palestinians started much sooner than that.

7. We know that without Truman it wouldn't have happened. Truman prevailed over his own gov't He turned the tide of the UN vote. He did so against perceived American interests because he thought it was he right thing to do.

In fact, we know quite a bit of truth.

At lot of things which are very likely true, but only as far as they go.

Behind certain facts is often a whole lot of other ones that help put events in a more enlightened perspective.

Ask yourself a question.

Why was Truman so convinced that what he was authorizing was the correct thing to do?

Some may say with hindsight, other as you indicate did not need any, that his actions where one of the greatest 'mistakes' made during the post war period. This in company with some mighty stiff competition.

As a general rule when politicians are seen to be making 'brave decisions' they are actually doing nothing of the kind, indeed the exact opposite.

It is also a FACT that some enormously great powers had been more then mighty keen to set up a Jewish State in The Holy Lands for come considerable amount of time; the Rothschilds for example, who are close business associates, and financial advisors of The British Royal Family, and The Vatican.

Which between then all are said to own around 60% of its land area, including some of the most prime real estate Israel has to offer.

The Rothschilds are seen as not only the richest and most powerful family in the entire known universe, they are also seen as the most vitally important patriarchs within their State of Israel, without which the country would simply not exist.

These are FACTS, please make of them what you personally will, for you can be reasonably certain that I already have.

Speaking as someone who has close friends and relatives resident in Israel, unlike I am sure most of you lot, it gives me no pleasure in knowing pretty much what is ultimately being planned for the place, and it is not good, to say the least. Although when precisely or even approximately, the shit is planned to hit the proverbial, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. Could be anytime tomorrow or 100 years from now

However looking on the bright side I hope to see at least 50% of the population survive the inevitable apocalypse.
