Another of the old guard leaves us. A man for whom people came out and voted for. From a time when the party could win a majority. Central Office, or whatever it is you lickspittles call yourselves now, when you review your approved candidate lists, damn well take note of that !

Rhodes Boyson, the Inspector salutes you and your memory Sir...

Rather a terse statement on Rhodes Boyson at BBC online. None of the gushing they reserve for their ‘socialist heroes of the people’ and no links. Blasted Bolsheviks !

I met Rhodes Boyson on a number of the occasions and although his politics were truly awful he was a very decent man. Unlike many Thatcherites he did not just ignore arguments that he didn’t like on the basis that there was no alternative but would offer those he disagreed with the basic respect of trying to answer their arguments.

A true original whose words, even when daft, chimed in authentically with some people's deepest feelings and instincts. Hopefully enjoying happy hour in heaven with Sir Gerald Nabarro. And perhaps even Lord St John of Fawsley. Unless Lord StJ of F is right about purgatory, in which case he could be receiving six million o the best somewhere...

Just realised that the Rt Hon. Sir Rhodes Boyson PC was a council member of The Freedom Association.

That alone puts him in the realms of greatness, so take note detractors.

All I can say about Sir Rhodes is that it is a great pity there are not a few like him in the present Conservative party.

Sadly, a prospective government of such men (and the odd woman), and what they stood for represented, would be unelectable in 2012.

You see, tradition, honour, serving others, family values (heterosexual, permanent and for raising children), speaking of God in public and such things are a thing of the past.

Such regressive 'progress'.

Thank you for the clever vid., Your Grace!

I think "Sir Rhode" was a good sport in opting for this. And I also think the two had a point about girls' schools. I believe what they're talking about had more to do with home background than the schools themselves (day schools, at least).

Decent girls I knew escaped unharmed - but with considerable insight about how awful women can be. Fortunately, the ones from good homes also knew that women can be exemplary indeed ... as well as very bright. No-soggy, huggy, soppy euro nonsense about it, though. Mind you... Deo Gratias there was no corporal punishment for girls.

For a long time after schooldays, I was amazed about how naive men could be about women. It took me even longer to understand that it's all six of one and half the other: some women can be just as naive about men. But as Sir Rhodes suggests, that kind of education is a family matter.

May he RIP.

Rhodes Boyson came to my school in about 1978 to give a lecture. I went along to hear him. I can't remember what he spoke about, and at the time I was too naive to understand politics or economics anyway, but I was at least very imperssed by him as a man. He came across as a man with strong principles and a noble spirit, in contrast to most of today's politicians with their plastic charisma and flip-flop sentiments crafted merely to boost their public image.

Dear fellow

Old Ernst was honoured to carry around the golf clubs of Willie Whitelaw in the early/mid 70's at a club in County Durham and was impressed at what a kind considerate chap he was. An utter gent and why Maggie was so fond of him.

The breed is almost extinct within the Conservative political party. Oh happy days they were, when giants walked the land.

Old Ernst (if I may?),

I remember the days when Michael Foot was regarded as the possible next prime minister, at a time when his physical appearance resembled a dishevelled vagabond with a gammy leg and he had about as much charm as Barry Humphries. I don't know anything about Michael Foot's political skill or personal integrity, but my point is, how wonderful that in those days the electorate evaluated politicians in relation to their wisdom, ability, and character rather than their superficial style & personality. How did the rot set in? The UK seemed to import an emphasis on image & charm in politics from the USA.

Old Ernst (if I may?) Indeed, you may!

"I remember the days when... but my point is, how wonderful that in those days the electorate evaluated politicians in relation to their wisdom, ability, and character rather than their superficial style & personality." Would this current fickle electorate even have voted for Winnie, in this now superficial culture, with all his disabilities?? "How did the rot set in? The UK seemed to import an emphasis on image & charm in politics from the USA." You are a man after my own heart!!

" I don't know anything about Michael Foot's political skill or personal integrity," He was a close and trusted friend of Enoch Powell who regarded him as an intellectual and moral equal(they used to dine together with their wives), despite their political difference. Nuff Said?!

Inspector and Naomi King

With the Inspector's benediction I knew Sir Rhodes Boyson must have been a good man who stood on the side of sanity in this insane world we live in today.

I wish I had know about this man before he died. Reading his biographies on the internet and his obituary I salute him as a true conservative but not the kind of worms who call themsleves that name today.

Here is a quote from his biography that shows me what kind of common sense and honest man he was.

"It is wrong biblically, is homosexuality. It is unnatural. AIDS is part of the fruits of the permissive society. The regular one-man, one-woman marriage would not put us at risk in this way. If we could wipe out homosexual practices, then Aids would die out."

I'm surprised his saying that didn't get him charged with a "hate crime" of some sort.

I hope someone writes his biography in book form someday soon. I would like to read it.

John, the man left politics before the advent of the gay rage sites. Had he been still active, he would have been subject to the vitriol and hate militant homosexuals excel at. No doubt, the spineless party leader, fearing adverse controversy, would have sacked him. Politics are held captive by these gays. We can but hope that one day, they get what they truly deserve...

Yes, he would have been given the boot had he stayed in politics long enough and spoken the truth backed by his common sense.

He would have been trashed by his own party today.

You are right. These feeble 2012 "conservatives" fear the slightest controversy that might arise in the media by doing the principled self interest things their conservative and traditional constituency voted them into office for. They are political correctness whores.

John. One suspects you are posting from the US. In the foreseeable future, the parliament here will take a vote on allowing same sex marriage. Unless the Inspector thinks far too highly of our representatives, there should be a fair number of them who will object in debate. Now, the interesting thing here is that objectors will be comparatively safe. You see, hate campaigns against individuals by militant gays only work when there is one victim to be had. When a whole crowd suddenly appear, they are overwhelmed, and can only appeal to the most pathetic of all sympathy. To wit, “How can you do this to us poor oppressed gays”. This coming from a gang who would gleefully sodomise fifteen year olds if they could lower the age of consent...

The USA is cursed with a radical Gay group called NAMBLA: North American Man Boy Love Association. Need I say more? They claim the goal of their organization is to "end the extreme oppression of men and boys in mutually consentual relationships" and the "empowerment of youth in all areas not just sexual". One of those empowerment "goals" is giving the "right to vote" to children. Wasn't there an article on Cranmer's Blog about just such a concept in Scotland? We can assume this youth empowerment would also mean Boy Scout and Girl Guide chapters organized at local NAMBLA meeting halls presumably at a local Unitarian Church or some extreme liberal Protestant Church that has lost it's members decades ago.

I don't want to imagine their summer camp activities.

This group of perverts are constantly defended by left wing lawyers and liberal "civil rights" groups. I have absolutely no doubt that within twenty years NAMBLA will become an integral part of the accepted left wing in the USA.

Every Western country has these types of extreme paedophile Gay groups and they are not on the fringe anymore. In Canada they want to lower the age of conscent from 18 to 16. Their ultimate goal is 14.

In the UK there is a group called "OutRage" who want the age of conscent lowered from 16 to 14 saying this will reduce the incidence of sexual abuse of young people.

Anyone who thinks this is all impossible in our future must remember that not that long ago, in 1970, the mere mention of the idea of homosexuals being legally "married" someday to a group of people at a party would have had you laughed out of the room.

So would telling them that in 42 years Islam would be a threat to Western Civilization once again and on it's way to be the majority population in most major European cities.

Of course if Islam ever becomes the majority I doubt that Gays or any of the rest of us non Muslims will have any freedoms.

It's too bizarre to comprehend anymore isn't it?

John, when it comes to sexually deviant force sites, UK politicians are running scared from the Wizard of Oz. If only they opened the curtains, all they would find are wheels and pulleys and a handful of sexual degenerates drooling over magazines of naked children.

So, lets hear more from Men Boy Love and other disturbing organisations. Let them become mainstream left. We want to see our representatives to kow-tow to them. Only when decent society witnesses what is being done in their name will they start to object...
