Err.. His Grace thinks not!

According to the Daily Mail:

His Grace thinks not!

Not least because Mrs Welby is not a vicar..

Your Grace, don't keep us on tenterhooks ... Who, then, is the lady vicar?

If she's a vicar she is most certainly not a lady.

The bit about that being his wife. See the tiny text below the pic. A total ruse to confuse Anglican and Catholic traditionalists; His Grace texted the Chief Rabbi that it's actually the next Bishopress of Rome. Even Downing and Buckingham don't know yet... I do inter-server data migration management for the Southern England and the Netherlands grid and just chanced on their transmission. Wait 'til Corrigan finds out...he still can't wrap his head around the idea of Vatican II.

Perhaps there will be something in Private Eye on lines of "Have you heard the one about the Archbishop of Canterbury and the wife of the Vicar of St Martin-in-the Fields?"

It must be embarrassing for him when he signs hotel registers as Justin Cantuar and Mrs Welby.

Obviously, it 's not his wife. If she were, the Archbishop would almost certainly be supporting absenteeism, which was rightly outlawed in the 19th Century, for the good of all Anglicans.
